Nitrous Express is one of the largest names in the performance side of the automotive aftermarket industry. At this year’s PRI show, they are showing off a couple new awesome products for the LT4 and Hellcat that are about ready to hit the market. We sat down with Mike Abney from Nitrous Express to get some details on these new parts.
Their LT4 supercharger lid may be their most anticipated release of the year, as this product combines solutions to many of the things enthusiasts look for in a supercharged vehicle. As some of you may know, stock 2015 and 2016 lids have a dampener to keep supercharger noise to a minimum– if you’re like us, you want to hear that supercharger! So, Nitrous Express removed that dampener and made multiple improvements to airflow, resulting in more power and more of that amazing sound. Mike explained, “These cars are easy to make horsepower [with], but they do run out of fuel system eventually, so a lot of guys will put methanol on them to extended the fuel system. This water methanol system is compatible to go all the way up to 110 methanols. So this will spray methanol above each port, to make sure the extra fuel you’re adding is more even cylinder-to-cylinder.”
The lid that was on display was plumbed for use with a water/methanol kit but Abney tells us that nitrous nozzles can just as easily take their place.
Unlike the LT4 supercharger lid, the new Hellcat nitrous plate goes between the throttle body and intake and has the solenoids built into it. It results in roughly a 250 horsepower increase and is extremely easy to install. “This is something you can install in an afternoon, and go out and show up your friends that same night,” said Mike.
The same goes for their perimeter spray plate for the immensely popular Holley Hi-Ram intake, which sprays above each port, “[resulting] in sort of direct-port performance, but with a plate you can bolt in, in 10 minutes,” according to Abney.
The plate sandwiches between the upper and lower sections of the Hi-Ram, making it very easy to install and pretty discrete in most applications if you are careful about plumbing it.
Last but not least, Nitrous Express is releasing an upgraded Maximizer Controller, called the “Maximizer 5 Controller”. They have improved upon their already amazing nitrous controller, by adding data logging capabilities and a screen for on-the-fly programming.
