Its not often you find an original equipment manufacturer who is realistic about what customers are doing with its cars after they leave the factory—especially when they leave the factory with more than 455 horsepower. While we can all agree that the General’s latest offerings are more than capable right off the lot, Chevrolet Performance knows gear heads because they are gear heads.
Accordingly, they’ve been offering Chevrolet fans officially licensed and validated go-fast goodies for some time now. Not only do the parts carry a factory warranty, they can be installed by your local dealer, saving you the wrench work. And for PRI 2017, they have officially expanded their line with new drag parts for the sixth-gen Camaro SS.
The new offerings include a higher stall torque converter, ZL1-spec heavy-duty prop shaft, ZL1-spec heavy-duty halfshafts, 15-inch caliper kit, cold air intake, ZL1 1LE-spec solid rear cradle mounts, a set of American Racing headers, and a set of Weld Racing rear drag wheels wrapped in the appropriate drag radials. With these relatively minor modifications—and a little work to the LT1—Chevrolet was able to propel its development car to a best of 10.569 at 127.8 mph after cutting a 1.433 60-foot time coming off the line.
To say those kind of stats are impressive would be an understatement, especially for parts that carry an official Chevrolet warranty and have been subjected to more than 400 passes of validation testing before being given the Chevrolet seal of approval. And what’s even better is Chevrolet has these parts on their shelves right now. It’s not too late to change your wish list for Christmas so you might want to start dropping your significant other hints now.
