SEMA 2013: Freeing The Horses With Powerteq (Superchips and Edge)

As OEs add more electronic controls to their engines, it becomes more important than ever to have the ability to “adjust” the preset parameters that come from the factory to account for the “enhancements” that we add to our vehicles. We stopped by Powerteq (who manages the Superchips and Edge brands) while at the SEMA Show.

flashpaqSuperchips is proud to offer tuning for most applications up to 2014 (Jeep Wranger just released) and they will be releasing the new Flashpaq next month. It will be able to read and clear DTC (diagnostic trouble codes), change wheel and tire size as well as gear ratios, will incorporate performance features like 0 to 60 and 1/4-mile times, and offer multiple power levels just to name a few. According to Joe Dussol, Marketing Director of Powerteq, “We are best in class for Wrangler tuning hands down!”

In addition to the Flashpaq, Superchips just launched their all-new SCR. The SCR is designed for the sport compact and muscle car enthusiast. It will deliver the horsepower and torque of a Superchips tuner along with the usual assortments of adjustability, but also includes hundreds of data monitoring options. In addition, this new system is easy to add additional sensors for full data logging capability with the Expandable Accessory System (EAS).

1L6A0522On the Edge side of the house, data monitoring is taken one step further by offering a 12-volt power supply kit. This means that the Insight monitor can now be added to non-OBD II vehicles. Now whether you’re a street racer, hot rodder, rock crawler, or someone who enjoys the oldies, you can have a single monitor that replaces a hand full of gauges and is capable of recording what it’s receiving. In addition to the 12-volt power supply kit, Edge has added a new G-force screen, as well as a pitch and roll screen.

For the diesels, the Insight can adjust EFILive and Smart Tuned PCMS on-the-fly. Alerts can, also, be set for RPM, MPH, and EGTs plus some others. These displays are able to “auto” sense when the outside light decreases and they auto dim so you don’t get blinded driving down that dark back country road at night.
