SEMA 2014: FueLab Digital Fuel Delivery Keeps the Fires Burning

IMG_0807SEMAGetting fuel from point A to point B would seem like a simple thing – heck, gravity can do that job, right? But things get complicated when that fuel needs to be delivered in specific quantities, at a specific pressure, and the price for getting it wrong could be a lost race, burned pistons, or worse.

Fuel delivery is a science, and FueLab sees it in that light. For carbureted engines with a big thirst, they’ve introduced a new four-port blocking-style (non-return) fuel pressure regulator that features dual -10 inlet ports, four -6 outlet ports with spacing wide enough to accommodate -8 line, and a quick-change main seat assembly.

“This regulator will handle very high flow rates and maintain a flattened, stable pressure curve,” explains FueLab’s Brian Paitz. The large diameter 1.5 inch diaphragm is the key to this new four-port’s consistent performance.

On the supply side, FueLab’s Prodigy fuel pumps build intelligence right into the pump itself – rather than using an external pulsewidth or voltage regulation system to slow the pump down during low-demand and idle conditions, integral control electronics adjust the speed of the DC brushless motor based on the signal voltage applied to a separate terminal, via a simple on-off, a command signal from an aftermarket ECM, or FueLab’s optional electronic fuel pressure regulator.

In addition to inline pumps, the Prodigy line also includes in-tank power modules in both application-specific modules and universal units for custom installations.
