When we hear certain sounds, some make our skin crawl while others make us stand up and take notice. When it comes to a car, the sound of an exhaust is the one thing that grabs our attention before we even see it. There are even a select few car guys that claim they can distinguish between a Ford, Chevy, or Mopar when they hear it. While the way a car sounds is one of the reasons enthusiasts buy aftermarket exhaust parts, performance is a key factor Flowmaster takes into consideration when designing those parts. Dale Dotson, marketing and motorsports manager at Flowmaster demonstrated its late-model exhaust kits for Chevrolet, Ford, and Mopar vehicles. Available in American Thunder, Outlaw, and Force II kits, you can choose the way your car will sound by selecting from one of these lines. Dotson told us, “Not only do we have complete systems, but we can deliver cat-backs and our new resonator-delete pipes. Our delete pipes can be used with the factory exhaust, or with our kits, and they help enhance the sound of the car.”

Flowmaster understands that not every enthusiast is interested in replacing the entire exhaust system, and has a solution for those folks. Changing just the exhaust pipes from the axle back will give your car a more aggressive sound, and the look you want at the rear of your car. Dotson told us, “We have axle back systems for just about all late-model cars, even the new 2016 Camaro with the dual-mode exhaust.” The Outlaw axle back kit for the 2016 Camaro with a 6.2-liter V8 engine is emissions legal, and features stainless steel Outlaw-series mufflers, 2 1/2-inch pipes, and 4-inch stainless-steel tips.

Finally, a high-flow catalytic converter will definitely help performance, so this new Direct-Fit unit is truly a needed product. These catalytic converters (California-legal versions available), are manufactured in the USA, and feature a stainless steel outer shell. The internal materials have been engineered to deliver maximum efficiency and to avoid MIL-code issues that are common with low-quality converters. Direct-Fit catalytic converter assemblies have mandrel-bent stainless steel tubing and all necessary hardware needed for installation. They have been granted Exemption Orders (EO) by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), and are warranted to meet California emission requirements for 50,000 miles. Additionally, the stainless steel body and pipes are warranted for five years or 50,000 miles.
