When it comes to performance exhaust systems, Flowmaster is likely one of the first brands that springs to mind, and for good reason. They are entering their 34th year of operation and can be found belting out bold burbles all over the nation on everything ranging from Chevrolet pick up trucks to high end Corvettes. With all that history, you’d think it’d be hard to keep their offerings fresh, but Flowmaster is making it look easy with their new exhaust systems for the 2016-17 Camaro.
New for 2017 is Flowmaster’s American Thunder dual mode axle-back exhaust system. This allows you to retain your factory installed dual mode controls but replaces the factory muffler with a novel dual muffler system.
“This particular system can toggle back and forth between an Outlaw straight through muffler and a 40 Series chambered muffler,” said Mike D’addario of Flowmaster. “This allows people to retain all of their factory equipment because the switching motor just bolts to this system and operates like stock, but with a much more aggressive tone.”
Flowmaster also offers the Outlaw exhaust which is not compatible with the dual exhaust mode—leaving your sixth-gen with just one mode: awesome. They also have a new Scavenger Series X pipe just in case you want to delete your stock resonators as well. All of Flowmaster’s exhaust systems are made from 409 stainless steel.
Hurst Shifter
Another new product from the Driven Performance Brands group is the Hurst Elite Series short throw shifter for the sixth-gen Camaro. Not only does it look great—available in standard ball or pistol grip shifters—it decreases throws by up to 40 percent. Combining great looks with precision machined parts, this shifter is sure to have you rowing through the gears in quick succession.
While more and more Camaros these days come with automatics, this notchy feeling shifter provides positive engagements and will leave you happy that you decided to row your own. From the tailpipe to the transmission you can’t go wrong with these awesome parts.
