Walking the show-floor the first day of the SEMA show, we headed over to the Specialty Vehicle Engineering booth and spoke with their Vice-President, David Hamburger to see what they had in store for this year.
For more than 25 years, Specialty Vehicle Engineering (formerly SLP) has been a Second Stage Vehicle Manufacturer and Tier One Supplier to GM and its dealers, having built over 55,000 cars, trucks, and SUV specialty vehicles. They are continuing their heritage of “Creating Tomorrow’s Classics Today!” with the addition of their Yenko/SC Corvette packages.
All Yenko/SC cars are adorned with the signature Yenko stripe. Accenting logos are found inside, as well as around the car's exterior. Each one of the 25 cars built will be serialized, making it even more special.
Using the Grand Sport as a base and available as Stage 1 (835-hp) and Stage II (1,000-hp) packages, both powerhouses are boosted by a custom-built 416 C.I.D. (6.8L) LT-1 engine that features all proven components. More than just a power upgrade, SVE also offers an optional 8-speed automatic transmission (for cars so equipped), upgraded in-house for those who want to race these cars.
Other options include the purchaser’s choice of color for the body, as well as the interior and coordinating brake calipers. A Z06-style ground effects package is available and the purchaser has options to make their Yenko/SC’s personal statement. Other distinguishing markers are the YENKO crest embroidered premium floor mats, seat head rests and door skins.
All SVE Yenko/SC cars come with side stripe graphics with matching painted hood, hood grille, roof and deck-lid stripes. Each SVE Yenko/SC is serialized and carries its own set of key fobs and dash plaque. If you’re looking for a way to step above the common Corvette and build your own personal classic, check out their website and see what future collectors will be wishing they had built when they had the chance.
