If it’s one thing that’s gained popularity over the years, it’s boost. Vehicle manufacturers are offering more and more supercharged and turbocharged applications from the factory. The aftermarket has also jumped on this opportunity building new boosted systems for cars and trucks as well. Edelbrock is the latest performance company to release a new supercharger system that fits the 2019-20 GM Truck Gen VI 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8 engines. 

Edelbrock’s new supercharger kit is one of the most efficient superchargers on the market and is 50-state emissions compliant. The supercharger utilizes the R2650 TVS rotor group, which was the largest that Eaton has offered until its recent release of the TVS R3100.  The R2650 rotor pack used in Edelbrock’s supercharger is a 170-degree high-twist design that provides efficiency, reliability, and significant power gains.

David Page, Edelbrock Product Manager, Forced Induction said, “Testing that was just completed with this system on a 2020 Silverado with a 6.2-liter engine netted a 44-percent horsepower gain over stock, delivering a whopping 549 horsepower to the wheels. In stock form, the truck produced a respectable 381 horsepower to the wheels. The additional 168 CARB-legal horsepower is definitely something you can feel while driving the truck! Extensive testing is done in towing and real-world driving conditions to ensure that you can still use your truck like a truck after installing one of these systems. It will just have a lot more motivation!”

What’s really unique about this design is the integrated bypass valve. It allows for an increase in horsepower and torque, with almost no fuel efficiency loss. The system also comes with a new nose drive explicitly configured for the 2019-20 GMC and Chevrolet trucks and features a dual-pass, three-core intercooler to keep the air intake temperatures at bay. The kit also includes a specific truck black powdercoated supercharger lid that allows for easy installation. The supercharger system consists of a supercharger pulley, brackets, hoses, belt, air intake tube, air filter, and hardware.
