If you’re looking for the ultimate GM engine swap, you would be hard-pressed to find anything that will outperform the ZR1’s supercharged LT5 engine. The 6.2-liter powerplant comes with an Eaton R2650 TVS blower and is rated at a monstrous 755 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 715 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm in stock form. And while this has not been the easiest mill to drop in a hot rod, Speartech has done its homework to build the ultimate powertrain package that even includes a 10-speed transmission.

Speartech’s new LT5 powertrain package comes with a new Chevrolet Performance LT5 dry-sump crate engine, new GM 10L90E 10-speed transmission, complete Speartech control system with computer modules, wiring harness, sensors, air intake, and throttle pedal. After this combination is installed in your project vehicle, it’s ready to fire up and drive. No additional tuning is necessary because all of Speartech’s powertrain packages are fully assembled, programmed, and test run before shipping. If you wanted to change the cam or make some other added power modifications, then a new tune would be needed.

You may be wondering why Speartech chose the LT5/10L90 combination for this project since the two were never paired from the factory. The 10-speed is an excellent match for the LT5, as it’s known for its overall durability and quick shifts. This engine and transmission make for a killer setup for those wanting the ultimate in power and reliability.

It took Speartech over a year to develop this combination for it to work together correctly. In fact, the company went as far as to install the complete driveline in its 1969 Chevrolet C10 shop truck, which can be seen lurking in the background in the above image.
