SEMA 2023: RestoMods’ Eye-Catching Supercharged 1969 Chevelle

When Chevrolet unleashed the 1969 Chevelle on the public in 1969, it was an apex predator on the streets. The Chevelle checked every box that made muscle cars cool, it had style, horsepower, and could be modified easily. Well, RestoMods found a way to make the 1969 Chevelle even better by carefully crafting this car into a classic that’s been outfitted with the best modern parts.

One of the calling cards of a well-built restomod is when the car maintains all of its classic looks on the surface. RestoMods really carried the OEM appearance of this Chevelle by not making any drastic changes to the car. The headlights were replaced with modern LED units, and most of the trim was replaced to make the car look brand new. SV Body & Paint sprayed the Porsche GT Silver on the low-mile Chevelle to perfection. RestoMods did upgrade the wheel and tire package on the Chevelle to modern specs with a set of two-piece American Racing forged wheels that are home to 14-inch Wilwood disc brakes.

The mechanical upgrades to the Chevelle that RestoMods made require a bit more digging to see. The OEM suspension was removed and replaced with a full set of parts from QA1. In the rear, you’ll find a stout 9-inch rearend that makes sure every bit of horsepower reaches the ground.

Under the hood of the Chevelle is where Restomods really made some magic happen. A 427 cubic-inch LS mill from Blueprint Engines was sourced to generate plenty of horsepower. The LS engine has been topped off by a Magnuson supercharger for good measure. This potent package screams its song through a Stainless Pypes dual exhaust that features an X-pipe and a pair of Borla mufflers. The engine is kept cool thanks to a BeCool radiator that’s sporting dual electric fans. Power is transferred to the rearend thanks to a TREMEC Magnum six-speed transmission from Silver Sport Transmissions, along with a McLeod Racing clutch.

RestoMods didn’t want the driver and passengers of the Chevelle to suffer as they rolled down the road, so the interior of the car got a massive facelift. Arjay’s Upholstery went absolutely wild inside the car and created an amazing custom leather interior. A set of Fesler door panels and center console were added to the Chevelle’s interior. The driver and passenger are held in place by a pair of Sparco carbon-fiber seats that have been wrapped in leather, and work with a set of four-point harnesses. A leather-wrapped SPARC Industries billet steering wheel lets the driver guide the Chevelle down the road. For instrumentation, RestoMods went with a full set of Autometer American Muscle gauges. A JL Audio four-speaker sound system with an amplifier cranks out the jams.

Now, RestoMods tried to give this Chevelle away, but the person who won the sweepstakes opted for the cash instead of the car. The full story of this Chevelle hasn’t been written yet, but whoever ends up with this car is going to have a 1,000-horsepower ride to enjoy.
