It’s not often that you see off-the-shelf parts designed for highly specific specialty applications, but then again, for Milodon, building oil pans for specialty applications is the company’s bread and butter. As such, the latest off-the-shelf oil pan part number (part numbers, really) are for tube-chassis drag cars running a turbocharged LS engine.
“The pans are only 5-1/2 inches deep,” says Milodon’s owner Steve Morrison. “That makes the pan perfect for tube-chassis applications. It’s available with either an internal or external -16AN oil pickup. When you’re running in the four- or five-second zone, you’re not in a stock chassis car at that point. This is really the pan you need.”
The oil pan has an eight-quart total capacity and features dual built-in turbo oil return ports, as well as internal trap doors to control oil movement under hard acceleration, in addition to an advanced windage tray and crank scraper design to minimize oil’s interaction with the crankshaft at speed. Made from Milodon’s signature yellow-zinc-coated steel, the design will clear large-stroke crankshafts and will accept either a remote oil filter setup or a traditional block-mounted oil filter.
