The famous Texas customization and tuning company, Hennessey Performance, just may have something up its sleeves regarding a new Cadillac supercar dubbed the Hennessey HPE1000 Twin-Turbo CTS-V. Thanks to Hennessey, going to the grocery store could get a bit more interesting if you happen to own one of the world’s fastest family sedans.
According to Cadillac, the new 2016 Cadillac CTS-V will already come stocked with 640 horsepower out of a 6.2-liter engine and a top speed of 200 mph, and it is expected to hit sales floors later this year. The plan is for John Hennessey and his Performance Engineering team to get their hands on a few and use the standard platform as a base to pack in some serious goodies. Like most Hennessey vehicles, the Cadillac will be super limited with just 24 units produced per year.
According to Yahoo News, this is what John had to say regarding the new Caddy supercar. “I believe that our 2016 Twin Turbo CTS-V will have a top speed approaching 240 mph (386 km/h). I’ve owned and driven several Cadillac CTS-Vs over the past 5 years. I love the practicality and the ease of driving these cars every day. They are also a great platform from which we can create our own special 4-door supercar.”
Hennessey won’t be slapping on some twin-turbos and calling it a day, as just about any shop can do that. This calls for a complete engine rebuild down to the cylinder heads, pistons and crankshaft. For stopping power, big carbon ceramic brakes will do the job, and the plan is for the car to be more aerodynamic than the standard model. Expect the interior to get an overhaul as well. While 1,000 horsepower is delightfully insane for a daily driver, Hennessey will offer three packages: HPE750, HPE800, HPE1000.
Look out, Hellcat. There may be a new Caddy in town ready to battle for the most powerful production sedan spot.
