Valve covers have to be functional, but they also give an engine its visual attitude. GM LS engines have a center-bolt valve cover design that limits options in valve covers — unless you pick up a set of LS to small-block Chevy (SBC) valve cover adapters from Moroso.
The LS to SBC valve cover adaptor opens up the valve cover options for any LS engine. These 5/8-inch thick adaptors will work with both stock and aftermarket heads for the LS engine. Moroso selected billet aluminum as the material for these adapters since it has great strength properties and isn’t too heavy. The adaptors have an O-ring built into the bottom of the adapter that mates to the surface of the head for a good seal. On the top of the adaptor, you can use an SBC valve cover gasket like Moroso’s P/N 93020 to seal things up between the adaptor and the valve cover itself.
Moroso provides all of the hardware you need to bolt these adaptors to your LS cylinder heads. The adaptors will accept ¼-20 hardware, so you can use the Moroso P/N 68831 bullet nose stud kit to mount the SBC valve covers to the heads. In this video from Moroso, you see how these adaptors are mounted to the heads, plus the host provides some great installation tips, too.
