BaT Finds: Blacktech Project Forged Carbon-Fiber ’69 Camaro For Sale

Hugo Santana’s 1969 Camaro is a perfect mix of a show car and a race car. As with many projects, this Camaro has been built and rebuilt multiple times over the years to suit changes in Hugo’s tastes and goals for the car. The current iteration is a beautiful cruiser that can tear up a track too. Last year we covered the pro-touring Camaro in a feature story after seeing it in person at LS Fest West in Las Vegas. Much to our surprise, it recently popped up on the auction site Bring A Trailer to be sent to a new home, and currently there are only hours left to get your bid in.

The highly modified 1969 Camaro coupe garnered attention following its showcase at the 2021 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Before its unveiling the vehicle underwent significant changes by Big Kid Custom Rides in 2019, transforming it into the pro-touring terror you see now. The car’s exterior received a custom gray-green repaint, complemented by a Blacktech Project forged carbon-fiber cowl-induction hood along with a carbon-fiber rear diffuser, and front and rear spoilers.

As part of a complete rebuild, the interior underwent a redesign by DJ Designs, featuring black leather and Alcantara upholstery. ZL1-style bucket seats, G-Force Racing harnesses, and a Sparco steering wheel combine to add style and performance to the car’s cockpit. Additionally, Dakota Digital instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and 8,000-rpm tachometer provides essential data to the driver. Rounding out the interior are a roll bar for safety and a custom Bluetooth stereo.

Under the hood lies a supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 engine, upgraded with a ported blower from Synergy Motorsports, a Brian Tooley Racing Stage 3 camshaft, and BTR valve train components. This powerhouse is mated to a Tremec six-speed manual transmission and a full-floating Ford 9-inch rear end from Dutchman Axles, delivering impressive performance on the road.

A pro-touring build would not be complete without a high-performance suspension setup. This Camaro uses Speedtech components throughout for handling the twisties with ease including their front subframe, frame connectors, torque arm, and upper and lower control arms. To smooth out the bumps and keep the car planted coilovers are at all four corners. Providing the grip are steamroller-wide BFGoodrich g-Force Rival tires measuring 315/30/18 up front and 335/30/18 out back. Black-finished American Racing 18-inch wheels complement the colors of the Camaro’s exterior.

Documentation accompanying the vehicle includes build records and an owner’s manual, with the car holding a clean California title. The odometer shows 9,000 miles since the completion of the build, with a total of approximately 21,000 miles accumulated under current ownership. This unique Camaro exemplifies the pro-touring style of a classic design combined with cutting-edge performance. There are only hours left on the auction at Bring A Trailer, and hopefully the new owner with put many more miles on this beautiful Camaro.
