Those with a keen eye (or anyone that attended the NMCA WEST opener in Fontana last month) may have noticed that our own Project BlownZ — the quickest and fastest true magazine project car ever — has been given a fresh new makeover for the 2015 season, with a far more eye-catching look than in years past.
BlownZ, which we campaign right out of the Power Automedia shop in the NMCA WEST Street Outlaw and PSCA 275 Drag Radial ranks, went under the knife (literally) at the hands of the team at SoCal Wraps this spring, in order to apply the flashy new scheme prominently featuring the Dragzine logo down its flanks. The look is certainly a departure from the more minimalist schemes that have adorned the 2002 Chevrolet Camaro in the past — the car was all-black with silver stripes early on, before we switched gears to an all-white scheme with carbon fiber stripes and silver lettering a season ago.
Perhaps the most exciting development regarding the new look however, is that through a new partnership with the wonderful team at JEG’S High Performance, Project BlownZ will grace the cover of an upcoming catalog distributed by the mail order automotive performance equipment giant. With JEG’S catalogs distributed to an untold number of households, speed shops, and race tracks each and every day, it’s quite an honor to be featured front and center on the cover.
The Power Automedia team has documented much of the process to date on BlownZ, from the removal of the existing 3M wrap by the SoCal team and the application of the flashy new red and yellow graphics, to our season debut at the Auto Club Dragway (an event we were fortunate enough to win in the Street Outlaw class) to a behind-the-scenes look at the studio photo session for the upcoming JEG’S catalog.
