Last week, Chevrolet officially acknowledged the 2016 Camaro for the first time, and gave us a sanctioned glimpse at a camo’ed  prototype. Today, there is a flurry of news about the 6th Gen, including the headliner – Chevy will be premiering the car at Belle Isle in Detroit on May 16. The event will include ride-alongs with pro drivers, a display of historically significant Camaros, talks with engineers and designers, and more.

Chevy seems to be dropping hints about what to expect from the new car, saying, “Its soul is legendary. Its DNA remains pure. But every piece of #CamaroSix will be refined in the name of performance.”

Chevrolet’s webpage for the 6th gen, chevrolet.com/2016-camaro, has an RSVP link for this limited-attendance event. How limited? When we tried to sign up, we got an error message, but we’ve heard that as of early this morning, there was already a wait list. The site does state, “Priority will be given to owners who choose to drive and display their Camaro at the event,” though.

To build anticipation, Chevy is also teasing a lot of currently-hidden content on the site to be trickled out on the days leading up to the actual reveal, saying “As it was reengineered, so it will be revealed. From the inside out.” There’s two items promised for Thursday (3/19), two more for the 30th, two on 4/9, two on 4/20, and so on. Even if you can’t get a Golden Ticket to Belle Isle, at least we have a couple months worth of new information to look forward to…
