What began back in 1974 has grown into a diverse schedule of car shows and events held at the Carlisle, Pennsylvania Fairgrounds. This June, GM enthusiasts from around the globe will be flocking to the tiny town’s fairgrounds to be part of what has become a year-long, 50th Anniversary celebration. This year marks 50 years of Carlisle Events hosting various car shows, auctions, and swap meets throughout the summer months. The weekend of June 21 and 22, 2024 will be all about the cars from General Motors during the Carlisle GM Nationals.
Attendees will see over 1,000 vehicles drive through the gates of the fairgrounds to attend the National Parts Depot show field. There will also be the Third-Gen Nationals on site. This “show within a show” is in its second season and spotlights third-generation Camaros and Firebirds. The Third-Gen Nationals will include seminars, a third-gen-specific parade, vendors, unique and rare third-generation GM vehicles, and more.
Of course, any Carlisle event wouldn’t be the same without the vendors. The Carlisle GM Nationals gives enthusiasts plenty of opportunities to source those much-needed parts for their rides. Whether new on the Manufacturer’s Midway or located in dog-eared boxes resting on a field of blue tarps, there’s automotive gold to be had in those Pennsylvania aisles. Part of the fun is finding it!
Whether you are looking for parts, a project vehicle, or something you can drive home, the Carlisle GM Nationals is the perfect place to find what you’re looking for. Just down the aisle from the Manufacturer’s Midway, you’ll find the car corral, where many makes and models of GM vehicles will be awaiting their next owner. The car corral is not only an opportunity to buy and sell, but it’s also a great place to see first-hand some really cool GM cars and trucks.
If you’re looking for the ultimate example of GM performance, you’ll need to stop by the Solid Lifter Showroom in building T. This performance-minded display of cars includes some amazing historical pieces such as Yenkos and COPOs, as well as some of the factory-offered performance cars of the muscle car era. There will be many ultra-rare examples to be found, and you can speak directly with the specialists who are responsible for tending to these beauties or have restored them. There will also be various seminars focused on the heritage and history of these rare rides.
When all is said and done, the Carlisle GM Nationals is a great way to spend a weekend in June. It’s one of the few places where every aspect of the GM enthusiast lifestyle is celebrated. There’s always something new to be seen or had, and you’ll be immersed in a world full of GM history, performance, and fun! Be sure to check out the Carlisle GM Nationals website to see all that will be offered. You can also buy tickets to attend the event or register for the show while you’re there on the website and you won’t have to wait in line to purchase tickets when you get there.
