No matter your political views, there is no denying the fact that men and women in the military continue to fight and sacrifice themselves for our freedoms and safety. President of The Mecum Auction Company, Dana Mecum, and CEO of West Coast Customs, Ryan Friedlinghaus, have teamed up to show their support of those men and women in the military by creating and auctioning off a custom fifth-generation Camaro convertible. With no reserve set, this special Camaro will cross the auction block at the upcoming Dallas, Texas Mecum Auction with all the proceeds going to benefit Operation Mend and injured military personnel.
The Brook Army Medical Center of San Antonio, Texas, Ronald Regan UCLA Medical Center and the Veterans Administration-Greater Los Angeles Health Care System have come together through Operation Mend to treat military men and women that have been severely injured in Afghanistan and Iraq. Funded by donations, Operation Mend will receive all of the proceeds from the sale of the Camaro to do life saving surgeries and rehabilitation for America’s heroes.
West Coast Customs, a company that has created many one-of-a-kind custom vehicles for celebrities and corporations, is transforming the Camaro into a military tribute car, complete with camouflage paint and military flags adorning the hood. The transformation is being documented on the show “Inside West Coast Customs” airing on the Discovery Channel.
The Camaro will make its debut at the Dallas, Texas Mecum Auction on October 6th. The car will then be auctioned off on Friday, October 7th at 7:30p.m. with bids being taken from the crowd, online and phone bidders. In addition to owning this custom Camaro, the new owner will have the opportunity to drive the car in the 2011 Veterans Day parade in New York as the Grand Marshals Car. The Camaro will also be used to seat returning war heroes that are undergoing face repair surgeries from IED explosions.
To take part in the auction of the Camaro and make a big difference in injured military personnel’s lives, make sure to tune into the auction on October 7th and place your bid. The sale of the Camaro will be broadcast on “Mecum Auto Auction: Muscle Cars & More” live on the Discovery Channel.
