Corvette Racing’s Doug Fehan Sells C8 Corvette On Bring A Trailer

You wouldn’t expect Batman to drive around town in anything except the Batmobile, would you? Well, unless he’s on the Bat Bike, Bat-copter, or, you get the idea. But when it comes to the question of what would Doug Fehan, the face of Corvette Racing ever since its inception back in 1999, get around in for his means of transportation?

Up until recently, he would’ve likely used this 2020 C8 Corvette. As you could imagine, Doug was an early adopter when it came time to fill out the order form for a then-new C8 Corvette. He received this all-red ride in March of 2020. Earlier than most, but hey, it’s good to be the king, or Doug, or Batman for that matter.

The Torch Red Stingray coupe is fitted with a tan leather interior and a few upgrades you would expect from a guy who has made a very good living by going faster than anyone else – like a radar detector. There is also a coating of paint protection up front, so stone chips from those notorious Michigan roads won’t be an issue for the next owner. Exterior accent pieces have all been dipped in the same shade of red used throughout the entire body of the car, giving it a subtle, clean look.

We’d bet you couldn’t pry that license plate away from Doug with all those 670 horses of the new Z06. Actually, we’d bet that’s what it took to take this plate from this particular C8 Corvette!

Under those 19- and 20-inch Trident Spoke aluminum wheels reside an equally-red set of calipers and the wheel well gaps up front are adjusted electronically thanks to the front lift system fitted to the car from the factory. Inside the cabin, the seating arrangements are skinned in tan perforated skins to allow the heat and ventilation system to adjust the temp on the backside of occupants’ dungarees. Tan stitching accents the dash and heated steering wheel nicely and tan leather fill in the areas in between the dash and the seats, coating the console and door skins.

The interior tan and black combo work nicely to contrast the car's Torch Red exterior. Subtle, classy, but makes a statement!

We can only imagine what it must be like working as an integral member of one of the fastest factory teams on the globe today. It must have a profound effect on how you view speed. We can only assume it does by the insanely low mileage on this particular car’s odometer. Between all the jet-setting and record-breaking, Doug has only rolled just over 5,000 miles on the odometer. How many of us would have tried to match that record in the first weekend of ownership once you drove this 495-horsepowered beast off the showroom floor? Heck, we can’t even keep a diecast Corvette in the box!

The odometer only shows just over 5,000 miles. Could YOU show such restraint with those 495 ponies corralled under the rear glass?

We’re sure when your other car is a C8.r, the drive to drive a mere C8 is slightly diminished. Even so, when Doug put his personal car up on Bring A Trailer, it didn’t take long for enthusiasts and collectors alike to start putting their name on the list to own it. When the bidding dust finally settled, Deano79 was the lucky owner with a bid of $84,500. Exclusivity and provenance aside, we feel that Deano got a pretty good deal as Doug did his darndest to keep that new car smell alive for as long as possible. Now it remains to be seen if Deano will consider the car’s mileage as a milestone or a challenge to be overcome. Either way, it doesn’t take away from the fact that this car was once the prized possession of a guy who knows a thing or two about fast Corvettes.
