The 4th of July weekend is the most patriotic weekend of the year. Images of backyard barbecues, children playing, cold beer, and fireworks all come to mind. While all of those are great and resemble Americana, nothing screams America like a Camaro. Born and bred in Detroit, the Camaro is the perfect love child of freedom and America. Okay, that might be a bit over the top, but the Camaro is Americana.
This past weekend marked the 2014 Camaro Superfest. The event is located in Riverside Park which is in Ypsilanti, MI. This was an all weekend event that brings in 400 or more Camaros every year. Every kind of Camaro is welcome all the way from 1967 on up. The website boasts that this show is “the longest running ALL Camaro event in the USA!” The show itself is free to enter for non-judged cars. Judged cars do pay a fee, which is donated to charity. Last year the show raised over $5,000 with a goal of over $6,000 for 2014.
The highlight of the show, besides being around Camaros, is being able to drive on Michigan International Speedway. All the cars are allowed on the track to parade around the track for four to seven laps. This allows the participants to get great shots on their car passing the start/finish line, but also makes for great photos! Check out the full gallery below.
