Talk about flying low! Vengeance Racing’s recently did some testing at South Georgia Motorsports Park, and their C7 Z06 ran a 10.20, at 142.7 mph. According to Vengeance, “We finally made it down to SGMP for testing last Thursday with our C7Z along with a couple customers and their VR CTS-Vs. As usual the track was on kill, but the weather was not great… the density altitude averaged 2,200-2,500 feet all day long.

While their Z has been performing flawlessly on the street, they quickly found out that the added power—and the 100 or more dyno pulls that the Zo6 has been privy to, have taken their toll on the stock clutch. While at the track, during their first launch, they attempted to slip the clutch out of the hole, leaving the line at around 2,500 rpm.

Unfortunately, the clutch instantly went up in smoke. After some street driving to try and knock the glaze off the clutch discs, and an hour or so cool-down time, they gave it another shot. This time they tried leaving the line just above idle, and then immediately engage the clutch. This method did get them down the track, but the clutch was still slipping enough in first gear to produce a cloud of smoke under the car.

Needless to say, launches and swift gear changes were not going to happen during the test and tune session. They did however manage to get a respectable e.t. out of the car. But, that’s not the big news. The big news is that they were able to post the fastest MPH to date of any C7 Z06.

The car ran the numbers while running on 93 octane pump gas, with an added dose of VP M1 methanol. The current tune makes around 740-750 rwhp.

The guys at Vengeance Racing say that they will be installing a RPS carbon triple-disc clutch and going back to the track ASAP to see the true potential of this car.
