Fueled To Perform: Fuel Injector Clinic’s Custom Injectors

If you’ve ever owned a high-performance street car, you know it can be a struggle to have good drivability. This problem is normally linked to a couple of things: either the tune on the car is garbage, the injectors are garbage, or both. One thing that you can control is buying the correct injectors for your setup.

When you have the wrong injectors in a street car it becomes much more detrimental than in a racecar. With a racecar, you need it to do two things:

One, it needs to idle, somewhat. The racers could care less if the engine is so rich that it causes tears to stream from the eyes of spectators. As long as it will start, idle, and not die after the burnout, then most are good with that. The second thing, it needs to do is to deliver enough fuel at wide-open throttle. If the injectors are large enough and the fuel system can supply the demand, technically you’re good.

Street cars are much more complex tuning situation, though. If you’ve ever tried to run a large injector on the street, then you know how frustrating it can be. It’s almost impossible to get the car to idle correctly without loading up and running super-rich. The engine will often stumble and off-idle and midrange tune-ability go out the window. Does it run great at wide-open throttle? You bet it does, but setting in that long line at the Whataburger drive-thru will quickly bring you back to reality. Even if you have a great tuner that can get around some of the problems, the car will still not drive like it could with proper injectors.

For that, the Fuel Injector Clinic (FIC) has all the right tools and knows exactly what you need even if you don’t. All of their injectors start out as a base Bosch high-impedance injector that is gasoline and E85-compatible. They are then perfectly matched up using a proprietary data-matching technology. FIC can match injectors within less than 1-percent of flow variance and less than 2-percent of the offset variance using this method. To give you an idea of how close this actually is, the typical OEM injectors have a 5-percent flow variance and a 38-percent offset variance.

Remember kids the smaller the percentage the better the match. According to FIC, the result is the closest matched set of injectors in the automotive industry. It’s so close in fact, that companies like Holley are utilizing them in NHRA ProStock cars.

So, what are some of the benefits for utilizing injectors from the Fuel Injector Clinic? First, the customer service at FIC is awesome and the staff will make sure that you get the injectors your car requires instead of what your friend suggests. While he or she might have a good idea of what you need, FIC can guarantee it. The injectors will be matched using their proprietary data-matching technology which means better idle quality, mid-range, and easier tune-ability. They offer injectors for Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge, Subaru, Mitsubishi, but most importantly, the LS/LT engines. FIC even offers ECU data that can be downloaded directly off of their website for your specific vehicle and injectors.

Each set of injectors include a custom spec sheet to give your tuner all the info they need to aid the tuning process. This could speed up the tuning process which means you could save yourself some money and save the tuner a headache. Wrap this all up with with killer customer service and lifetime warranty and why would you want to go anywhere else for your custom injector needs?
