The LSX Drag Radial category, the quickest and fastest division in the GM Performance Parts LSX Challenge Series, will once again be backed by the folks at JE Pistons in 2013. JE, one of the industry leaders in high-end drag racing pistons, will serve as the title sponsor of the class that features low seven-second, 200+ MPH racing action from the baddest LSX-powered, radial tire race cars on the planet.
The LSX Challenge Series will once contest four events in 2013, with two held in conjunction with the NMCA, including the season opener at Bradenton, Fla. on March 21-24 and the LSX Shootout at the NMCA World Street Finals in Indianapolis the weekend of October 10-13, to go along with the GM-only Chevy High Performance Nationals in Atlanta on May 31-June 2, and the Holley LS Fest at the Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Ky. on September 6-8.
Liberty Township, Oh. native Mark Koehler took home the 2012 JE Pistons LSX Drag Radial championship in his 2000 model Pontiac Trans Am, edging out Mike Brown by a mere 95 points when the dust had settled in Indianapolis. This season, Brown, Andy Essary, Steven Fereday, and others will be gunning for the crown.
Along with an extensive lineup of pistons for virtually everything domestic and foreign, JE also offers a line of SRS pistons for the 15-degree GM LS1, LS2, and LS6 style cylinder heads with an inverted dome design. Intended for naturally aspirated engines or moderate nitrous/boost street and strip applications, these pistons are perfect for the enthusiast looking to make some horsepower with their new Camaros, Corvettes and the like.
