Craig Jackson and the folks at the Barrett-Jackson auction company have a way of enticing personalities to part with their prized rides somewhere across their auction blocks that are scattered across the nation. The Barrett-Jackson team has offered up numerous autos with VIN numbers that resemble binary code, super-rare CEO-owned cars, multi-million-dollar fund-raiser vehicles, and now, this custom-designed C8 Corvette convertible that was built for Paul Stanley, guitarist for the hit band KISS.
Hey, if you’ve sold over 100 million albums throughout your 45-year career and have a spot reserved for you in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, you can pull a couple of favors to have your Corvette bumped to the front of the line at the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Of course, the car is still all stock, right down to the 001 VIN number it wears from the factory.
The fact that Stanley previously worked with GM President Mark Reuss and Harlan Charles (Corvette Product Marketing Manager) to design a special 2015 C7 Corvette for the SEMA show in 2014 didn’t hurt either. Paul worked with the design team, and with inspiration from a supercar he had seen, developed a color that is incredibly close to the Long Beach Red paint option that appeared in 2016. Paul is an accomplished artist with painting sales of over 18 million dollars, so he knows a thing or two about colors.
Unlike the wild costumes and flame-throwing antics the band was noted for, this C8 Corvette is quite understated, save for the striking Red Mist Metallic Tint Coat which wraps itself around the C8’s body lines quite nicely. Those pewter wheels help to keep the car’s appearance sedated but sexy.
Corvette aficionados will recognize the car as a 2022 Chevrolet Corvette 3LT convertible. The car features the same 6.2L V8 and 8-speed transmission as all other C8s currently on the road. The interior of the car is wrapped in a nice Saddle interior and is as understated, yet as striking as the exterior. What set’s this particular C8’s interior apart from any other is the inclusion of that autographed Ibanez PS120 Paul Stanley Signature guitar that will go with the sale of this car when it crosses the auction block at Barrett-Jackson’s Las Vegas auction on June 30-July 2, 2022. The car will be auctioned with no reserve at the Las Vegas event, which will be held in the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
This car would make a great centerpiece for some lucky KISS fan, or even fill a niche in someone’s low-number VIN collection somewhere. Paul only keeps a few cars at a time and explains his reason for selling the car, “I want to make it available to somebody who might be able to get more out of it, whether it’s to add to a collection or to drive it.” Whether driving or as the centerpiece of a collection somewhere, this car will look great doing it. While we don’t have a hope of shredding anything on that autographed guitar, we wouldn’t mind having Paul’s C8 residing in our garage. Maybe we’ll empty out the change drawer, shake out all the couch cushions and head out to Las Vegas!
