If you’re on the market for a low-mileage used 2020 Torch Red C8 Corvette, there aren’t many to choose from at the moment. If you manage to find one that’s available, odds are its way over the retail price. However, we managed to find one that should be under the retail price, but there’s a catch, it needs some serious attention.
A couple of months ago, an image of this C8 surfaced on the internet. The car was at a dealership in Florida, and the technician missed the lift points on the mid-engine Corvette. As a result, the car fell off the lift causing severe damage to the 3,419-mile vehicle. This Torch Red 2020 C8 is now up for auction at Copart.com.
From what we can tell, the damage to the one-owner C8 is quite extensive. The front bumper is misaligned, broken driverside headlight, and a busted fender, door, and 1/4-panel on the passenger’s side. There is also an A/C condenser in the back of the car as if matters weren’t bad enough. On a positive note, the interior looks immaculate, as does the engine and the rear bumper. It’s a safe bet to say that there’s more than meets the eye with this car.
The real question is, what will this car bring at an auction. The list price on the 1LT C8, according to Copart, was $58,000, which we think is low considering the price on Chevrolet’s website is $59,995. But that’s beside the point. It will be interesting to see what the car is worth or, better yet, what it will bring at auction.
Unfortunately, Copart states that the C8 is in an “upcoming lot and is not assigned to an auction yet.” Basically, you can’t bid on this vehicle, and we don’t know when the auction will start. However, we did add it to our watchlist to see what unfolds with this rare find.
