A memorial car rally honoring the late Jerry Magnuson, original founder of Magnuson Products, and most famously his supercharger line of products, will take place on October 8, 2016 in Ventura, California.
The fundraiser, hosted by the Murphy Auto Museum, will share a portion of the proceeds with the American Cancer Society.
Limited to 50 vehicles (any year, make, or model), participants will drive approximately 100 scenic miles in a loop around Ventura County, California. The loop will start from the beaches of Ventura, head to the Ojai Valley and back country mountains, through Santa Paula and Fillmore, and back to Ventura in a timed run with checkpoints along the way.
“We are honored to pay tribute to such an remarkable man, and to showcase Jerry’s vision and talents,” said David Neel, owner of the Murphy Auto Museum. “I look forward to sharing his legacy with fellow car and motorsports enthusiasts.”
There are several levels of participation, from $500 to $2,500 per entry, and donations of any amount are welcome. In addition, tickets to attend only the after-party can be purchased for $50 per person.
Each car entry is allowed a driver and navigator. The rally map will be provided at the start, with a playing card at each checkpoint to vie for the best poker hand at the end of the event.
Lunch will be served along the route, and all participants will be treated to an after-party at the museum in Oxnard, California, where 30,000 square feet of automobiles and Americana await to be discovered.
Magnuson was passionate about speed and founded his company in Ventura, where he was a resident. A visionary in his field, and an icon in the world of auto racing, hot rods, and fabrication he is considered to be one of the pioneers in the design and manufacturing of the aftermarket superchargers that bare his name.
