DEI has recognized that insulating Corvette EGR valve pipes has many benefits and leads to more horsepower. They are now introducing their 1985-1991 Corvette EGR pipe heat shield to reduce excessive heat and increase performance.
Official Release:
Insulating Corvette EGR valve pipes not only helps reduce heat radiating from the pipe, but also helps to keep exhaust gas temperatures higher as it is being reintroduced into the intake. Mixing with the intake air helps lower combustion temperatures for a cooler more complete fuel burn for maximum HP.
Design Engineering, leading specialists in performance thermal products, now offers a Corvette EGR Pipe Heat Shield for 1985 – ’91 models that makes installation a simple and straightforward task. Designed with an innovative sewn-in hook & loop edge, the shield easily wraps around the EGR pipe for a secure fit. Simply trim off any excess material for a quick replacement without removal of the EGR valve or pipe.
Excessive heat reduces performance while putting electrical components at risk. DEI’s EGR Pipe Heat Shield is made of a high temperature rated glass fiber fabric bonded to a heat reflective aluminized outer facing. This combined material handles direct heat up to 500°F, or 2000° radiant heat. Developed to be resistant to oil, grease, and chemical spills, the shield also adds longstanding protection while looking good under the hood.
Multiple lengths are available for a perfect fit. Now available are three new part numbers:
# 010387 – 11.5” x 4.5” for 1985 to 88 models (as well as some 1989 models)
# 010388 – 15.0” x 4.5” for 1990-1991 models (fitting also some 1989 models)
# 010389 – 4.5” x 4.5” for 1987 to 1991 models
Before ordering, note that some 1989 Corvettes are designed with either an 11.5” or a 15” EGR pipe, so taking a measurement of the EGR pipe is suggested.
