Fighting the steering wheel in your C5 or C6 Corvette when you hit a bump or turn hard? That twitchy feeling, known as bump steer, really kills the precise handling these cars should have and the confidence in your sports car, especially if you’ve lowered it, stock parts are getting old and worn out, or both. It happens when the wheel turns slightly on its own as the suspension moves. BMR Suspension has a fix: their new Corvette Bump Steer Kit that features tough construction for performance use.
This kit is a direct swap for the factory outer tie rods on all 1997-2004 C5 Corvettes and the later 2005-2013 C6 models, including the high-performance Z06 and ZR1. By replacing those stock parts, the BMR kit lets you fine tune steering arm angles to minimize bump steer, leading to much more predictable handling and letting the car go where you point it.
BMR built this kit strong using lightweight 1.125-inch 6061 aluminum for the main tie rod bodies. Instead of the original rubber bushings, these use solid, precise Teflon-lined rod ends (often called heim joints). This switch gets rid of that vague feeling in the steering and lets you feel exactly what the front tires are doing. They even come black anodized to look good for the long haul. You can also feel good knowing BMR designs and makes these Corvette bump steer kits right in the USA.
Getting them in the car is pretty quick, usually taking only about one to two hours. The real magic of this “Race Version” kit is the huge amount of adjustability it offers compared to stock. This means you or your alignment shop can fine-tune the steering geometry perfectly for how you use the car – maybe setting it up for the stock ride height and the ability to re adjust once you convert to coilovers.

BMR includes detailed instructions with images to aid in installation and explaining the benefits of proper suspension geometry.
Installing the BMR Bump Steer Kit directly upgrades your Corvette’s steering performance, not just replacing worn parts. It can bring huge improvement in steering response and handling predictability.
Spirited street drives feel sharper, track day corners invite more confidence, and drag strip passes gain consistency once you properly manage the bump steer. You gain predictable command that truly enhances the fun factor and lets your Corvette perform closer to its full potential.
