Official C8 ZR1 0-60 And Quarter Mile Times Released By Chevrolet

Ordering for the C8 ZR1 is expected to start this February, but it can’t come soon enough for those who want the fastest production Corvette ever produced. Chevrolet’s next top-dog Corvette is the ZR1 powered by the 5.5 liter LT7 flat-plane-crank V8. With a pair of massive turbos, the 8,000 RPM redline V8 achieves a peak torque of 828 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm and a maximum horsepower output of 1,064 at 7,000 rpm. But, as an early Christmas present to their loyal fans and followers, Chevrolet decided to release the official C8 ZR1 0-60 and quarter mile times too.

C8 ZR1 0-60

The official acceleration figures from Chevrolet for the C8 ZR1 are a 0-60 time of 2.3 seconds and a quarter mile time of 9.6 seconds at 150 MPH when equipped with the ZTK package. Not only is the C8 ZR1 the fastest production Corvette ever made, this makes the C8 ZR1 the quickest production Corvette ever too! Without the ZTK package, those figures are 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and a quarter mile time of 9.7 seconds at 152 MPH. Why would it go 0.1 seconds slower but 2 MPH faster without the ZTK package? Let’s take a look at what the ZTK package adds to the C8 ZR1.

Think of the ZTK package for the ZR1 in the same way you think about the Z07 package for the Z06; The ZTK package upgrades the ZR1’s aerodynamics, suspension, and tires to focus on maximum performance on the race track. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires replace the standard Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, which contribute to the slightly quicker acceleration for the ZTK package, as the 1,064-horsepower ZR1 needs all the grip it can get to put the power down.

This chart shows the official performance figures for different C8 models. Not that there isn’t an official top speed yet for a ZTK equipped ZR1.

The ZTK performance package gives the ZR1 unique suspension tuning. While every C8 ZR1 has Magnetic Selective Ride Control, the ZTK package gets stiffer springs and special calibration compared to the base ZR1. This package also gives the ZR1 functionally and visually aggressive aerodynamic upgrades. With a high-downforce carbon fiber rear spoiler and carbon fiber front splitter and side skirts, all in the name of greater downforce on the race track, the tradeoff is more drag at higher speeds, which is why the non-ZTK package ZR1 has a slightly higher trap speed in the quarter mile.

Something to note with these performance figures is they were conducted on a normal road surface, not a prepped surface at a drag strip, and on high-octane pump gas, not Ethanol or race gas. This makes Chevrolet’s figures even more impressive and we can’t wait until they release an official time at the Nürburgring in Germany.
