“We will re-test the car on our chassis dyno once the engine has 1,000 break-in miles at which point we may further increase the power. Stay tuned for more updates coming soon”.
For starters, the Hennessey Camaro is no longer powered by the stock 7.0-liter LS7. In the quest for more, the Z has its engine replaced with a 7.0-liter LSX engine block from GM Performance Parts. From there, it gets even better. Inside are forged aluminum pistons, as well as a forged-steel crankshaft and connecting rods. HPE adds a custom camshaft, and a set of high-flow cylinder heads for good measure. Up top, a custom intake manifold and throttle body, and an upgraded fuel injection system make sure that the engine is properly fed. According to Hennessey, the HPE1000 throws down just over 800 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque. See the video for yourself.
