We’re Teaming Up With Ridetech For The PPG Nationals Autocross!

This weekend, we’re teaming up with Ridetech for the Goodguys Autocross Series Sponsor Shootout at the 18th Annual PPG Nationals in Columbus, Ohio, which we’re ecstatic about. As each sponsor of the event is only allowed one car per entry, one of Ridetech’s cars will be competing under the Turnology name, which will be awesome. The car that Ridetech will compete with under the TURNology name will be the famous, groundbreaking 48-Hour Camaro that was built a mere four years ago. Its a badass machine.

Before 2006, there was no Goodguys Autocross series. That all changed when Ridetech president, Bret Voelkel, got a small group of people and their cars together in a parking lot in Nashville, Tennessee, to put their cars to the test in a performance driving scenario. Since then, the Goodguys Autocross series has taken off, and is one of the most popular and competitive autocross series in the country.

At the PPG Nationals in Columbus, Ohio, the nation’s top autocross racers will have the opportunity to put their street rod, truck, or street machine to the test. The autocross course is located within the event venue, and will have a lot of twists and curves to test some of the best suspension setups around, amongst other component combinations. All of the participants will be timed at the end of event, and there will ultimately be one winner for each of the street rod, truck, and street machine classes, with a check for $5,000 being the grand prize.

Ridetech’s 48-Hour Corvette that was recently built back in March will be competing in the competition as well. Both of the cars will run the course during the event. Although the 48-Hour Camaro was built four years ago, it is still just as competitive as it was when it was built, and it is still utilizing all of the same components from the partner companies that fueled the build. The only major change to the Camaro was the addition of Falken Tires, which improved the car’s lap times by more than two seconds.

Keep in mind that the 48-Hour Camaro and Corvette aren’t just track cars, they’re actually driven quite a bit. Since the Camaro was built, it has put about 25,000 miles on the odometer, been on the Power Tour, driven to Texas and back, and driven to Florida and back. The Camaro has also been on the Goodguys Road Tour as well; it is no garage queen. With components from Baer, Ridetech, Vintage Air, Lingenfelter Performance, Recaro, Forgeline, and many more, the 48-Hour Camaro and Corvette are true performers.

Piloting the 48-Hour Camaro at the Goodguys Autocross event at the PPG Nationals will be Todd Gree, and Chris Smith will be driving the 48-Hour Corvette. Bret Voelkel of Ridetech will be competing in the event in a 1964 C2 Corvette as well. Aside to the autocross, Ridetech’s new 48-foot trailer will be displaying current products, new products, and a few chassis to showcase the components. Ridetech will also be inviting Goodguys attendees to bring their cars to their display trailer for weight and suspension evaluations.

We’re really excited for the event this weekend and can’t wait to check out all of the awesome rides that will be on display, and also out on the track! The 18th Annual Goodguys PPG Nationals start this Friday, July 10th, so be sure to make it to the show for all three days so you don’t miss a thing. Here is a link to all of the show’s features and activities for the weekend; we’ll see you there!
