Stolen Corvette Returned After 42 Years

A unique love story with a twist ends happily after a 42 year separation. Paul and Pam Jones, having long ago given up hope of ever being finding their 1967 Corvette Sting Ray stolen on August 12, 1973, recently discovered that their car had been recovered by the Ohio Highway Patrol.

w1Having saved his hard earned money Paul Jones purchased the beautiful ’67 Corvette Sting Ray fresh out of high school upon his graduation. The Vette was his most treasured possession, and Jones would come to share his beloved automobile with his wife who quickly fell in love with the car as well.

By this point, most folks would have given up hope that the car stolen from the front of their apartment so many years ago would find its way home. Paul who now suffers from Alzheimer’s remembers the car well, and Pam says that having it home again is in many ways therapeutic for her husband.

One the police realized the car had a fake identification number, they tracked the Joneses down helping to bring a happy ending long overdue. Upon learning of their good fortune, Pamela traveled from Texas to Ohio to claim the car for her husband. Upon acquiring a new title for the car, arrangements were made to transport the car home and it is currently undergoing a restoration at Mid-Cities Classics. With big changes ahead for the car, arrangements have been made to store it safely from this point on, and Pamela mentioned that she will drive her husband around as often as he likes.

Bridgett Davis

Growing up in Greenwood, Indiana a short distance from the world famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway, my dad would take me to local car shows and events. Through this I gained my passion. Along with cars, I have always loved photography, writing, and graphic arts. However when attending college I did not pursue my passions. I played it safe and majored in business and marketing. After a few years in this field I determined this was not for me and began to pursue a writing and photography career. Landing me here with Power Automedia. I am also now the business owner of Bridgett's Toxic Creations. Specializing in automobile showboards, custom license plates, logos, and website headers. Living and breathing the Mustang life everyday in everyway. To be able to work in my field of passion is amazing and fun experience everyday. The best part is sharing a common passion with others.
