Let’s face it, we build our cars to make lots of horsepower so they go fast, but making sub-sonic pulls on the street isn’t super safe. The NHRA and drag strips were created to give people a safe place to race, but not everybody likes to make a pass from a dead stop, and that’s how roll racing came about.
Roll racing is a lot like what people do on the streets, but in a safe environment at the track. Street Car Takeover events offer a roll racing competition and the lanes are always packed with some wild cars. You’ll see everything from people in their street cars out to have some fun, all the way to exotic supercars laying down 200 MPH rips.
We went to the Street Car Takeover event with Scott Cordell and his wicked 2002 Camaro. Check out this video on our Power + Performance YouTube channel where we document our time at US 131 Motorsports Park and all the roll racing fun.
