It’s 2021, and we’re off to a much better start with the car scene than in the previous year. While the COVID pandemic wreaked havoc on races and events across the US in 2020, we are hopeful that things will go much smoother this year as companies and promoters start scheduling events. And as these shows and races come to fruition, we wanted to share our top five events that every LS enthusiast should check out.
Holley’s LS Fest
LS Fest is the show of shows for anyone that loave the LS engine. This event keeps growing year after year, and one of the great things about these shows is they are packed with non-stop action. With drag racing, autocross, road racing, drifting, and burnout contest, there is no way to get bored while attending.
Holley offers two LS events, LS Fest West in Las Vegas, Nevada, and LS Fest East in Bowling Green, Kentucky. While these shows are similar in their offerings, they have a completely different style and mix of vehicles for a unique experience. If you’ve never been to LS Fest, figure out a way to get there. It’s unlike any other event that we’ve attended.
TX2K
TX2K takes place at Houston Raceway Park and is a wild event. This race is host to all kinds of cars, including more GTR’s than we have ever seen in one place. And while Lamborghinis, Supras, and other imports are included in the lineup, there are a ton of fast domestic cars in attendance as well, including some of the fastest LS-powered vehicles in the country. The event offers roll racing and 1/4-mile drag racing, and several different classes that keep the spectators busy. Our favorite classes at TX2K include the stick shift and the street car class.
Street Car Takeover
The name says it all. Street Car Takeover is a two-part event that includes a massive car meet, followed by a day of racing at the dragstrip. Competitors will roll race during the first part of the day before the show’s drag racing portion kicks off. You can expect to see some of the fastest street cars from all over the country battle it out. One of the great things about this event is that SCT offers one of the largest schedules and hosts events from the East Coast to Texas, Oklahoma, and in between.
Flashlight Shootout
If you love fast cars mixed in with a street racing vibe, be sure and go to a Flashlight Shootout event. This race is unique in the way it combines a prepped track with a flashlight start for exciting 1/8-mile racing. Since the conception of this race, there’s been a host of super fast LS-powered cars in the mix along with others. We expect that the Flashlight Shootout will continue to grow due to its street racing feel and prepped track surface.
Ice Cream Cruise
1320 Videos host the Ice Cream Cruise, which takes place in Omaha, Nebraska, and don’t let the name fool you. This event offers a massive car show, burnout contest, and drag racing. And while there are a ton of LS-powered vehicles on the premise, this show offers a wide variety of cars, too, which is sure to keep everyone entertained.
