VIDEO: 1969 Firebird “Wild Turkey”

ScottieDTV once again brings us the sleek and beautiful as he and his trusty camera make their way to a private party in Auburn, Indiana. While there, Scottie had the chance to see a very yellow F-body on display.

Called “Wild Turkey” by its owner, a young man named Josh, the ’69 Firebird was the result of seven years of hard work. It fell upon Josh’s lap by way of his older brother, who elected to have the car painted in the bright yellow shade–a modern-day color used on Camaros–we see today, with the namesake referencing the ever-popular top-shelf Wild Turkey bourbon.

Most of the car was done completely by Josh and his skill in using fiberglass, including the T/A scoops and rear wing. He states he found his influence from looking at European supercars like Lamborghini and Ferrari, and that he could replicate all of his designs thanks to the numerous molds he created. It definitely shows on the car the mastery that Josh possesses, being able to copy beautifully the lines and contours of the first-gen Firebird.

A little bit of Corvette can be found on the car, much to the dismay of the more hardlined Pontiac fans. Under the hood, Josh used an LS2 originally found in a 2006 GTO, now ported and polished by the high performance experts at Lingenfelter. There’s also the chrome wheels, which were taken from a Corvette and painted in a satin grey color.

The car’s interior is as amazing as everything else: barring a few pieces, it’s all a result of Josh’s handiwork. The console and the door panels in particular were time-consuming, but worth the effort, as we can see.

Josh’s website, ZingersCustoms.com, shows a lot more of what’s been done to the car than Scottie was able to cover in a short time. Check it out for yourself and see the other projects Josh is busy with, including a magnificent blue Thunderbird.
