When building a high-performance car, we tend to focus on the obvious -like power, power, and more power. We usually take our time when assembling our project car’s engine, selecting the best parts available that fit our needs and our budget, even showering our suspension and brakes with the attention they require to compliment our latest engine upgrades in the process.

Everything was great until...

Unfortunately, most of us overlook small, inexpensive safety and insurance items… like a fire extinguisher. It sounds petty, and maybe even a little bit nerdy or ricerish, but trust us guys, it’s a wise investment -in any car!

If you don’t want to take our word for it, check out what happens in this video when something so tiny and arguably insignificant like a fuel injector o-ring fails, blowing E85 fuel all over a hot engine. It isn’t pretty.

The car in question is a 2010 Camaro SS that packs a 408-stroked and F1X ProCharged-blown LS3, and while the owner and one of his buddies were out on a night-time blast at over 100 mph  on the freeway, that is exactly what happened. Luckily, the guys had a jug of water in the back seat, and after a quick splash and dash it was all over.

Surprisingly, a few passing motorists even stopped by asking to help, but thanks to the boy’s quick reaction time, they didn’t need it. Thankfully, the car survived to fight another day, and the Camaro’s owner wisely invested in a fire extinguisher less than 24 hours later. Lesson learned…
