The American influence on cultures all over the world has never been greater from television and movies to motorsports and muscle cars. Yet you have to shell out a lot of money to get your hands on to a grey market import like the Ford Mustang, making these cars relatively few and far between. When you do see them, they’re often incorporated into some racing outfit or another.

Such is the case with the Mustang driven by the Sidewayz Crew, a drifting outfit from Hungary. Their latest promo video comes from the Drift King of Europe series, and features their Corvette LS7-powered S197 Mustang. Yup, a Corvette-powered Mustang. Bet you weren’t expecting that one!

Driven by racer Singer Arpad, the Mustang makes up one half of the Sidewayz Crew racing fleet (the other car being a Nissan 350Z…meh). While the name sounds like some long-defunct hip hop crew, there is no doubt that this Mustang and its driver know how to get sideways with the best of them.

The slickly produced video is unfortunately undercut by this new-fangled techno-pop nonsense called “dubstep”, but there are a few moments of clarity where the Mustang’s LS7 V8 can be heard roaring full throttle. With at least 500 horsepower and as much torque on tap, this is one of the few non-Ford motors we would allow under the hood of our own Mustangs.

Then again, there are always the purists who balk at the idea of anything but a Blue Oval engine in a Mustang. After watching this European Mustang drift like woah though, we have to say, that LS7 engine makes a pretty good argument…
