Many of us are familiar with the YouTube.com series Forum Wars, presented by Royal Purple. Our friends at Camaro5.com recently got a chance to compete in this series against their nemesis, ChallengerTalk.com. In this episode, a 2010 Camaro SS took on a 2009 Challenger R/T to show which muscle car remake was on top of the food chain.
Forum Wars pins two drivers, who represent opposing forums, and their cars against one another to see just which car is the best. Drivers compete in three different races – a drag race, autocross course and slalom. In the end, the represented forum with the most wins is crowned the victor.
The 2010 Camaro SS, driven by Erik Deberg, had a modified 6.2 liter V8 engine pushing 478 rear-wheel horsepower and 434 foot-pounds of torque. The 2009 Challenger, driven by Jeff Jazbec, had a 6.0 liter TT HEMI engine in it, pushing 546 rear-wheel horsepower and 648 foot-pounds of torque. While the Challenger out-powered the Camaro, the Camaro weighed only 3,860 pounds compared to the Challenger’s 4,041 pounds.
The SS took the drag race right from the light. While Deberg expressed his concern that he would lose to the higher powered Challenger, the race was his all the way down to the speed trap. The Camaro crossed the finish line at 114.46 mph, resulting in a quarter mile time of 12.818 seconds. The Challenger crossed the line at 101.73 mph, resulting in a 13.740 quarter-mile time. The autocross event had similar results with the Camaro finishing in 46.446 seconds and the Challenger taking 51.813 seconds to complete the course.
The slalom took a slightly different direction, however. The Challenger completed the course in 7.973 seconds while the Camaro completed it in 8.080 seconds. The Challenger, however, knocked over two cones during the slalom, causing Jazbec to get a 4-second penalty to his time. This resulted in the Camaro winning over the Challenger’s time of 11.973 seconds.
Congratulations to Camaro5.com for sweeping the competition on Forum Wars. It’s nice to see the Camaro out on the track holding its own against other muscle car challengers – no pun intended!
