Last weekend GM revealed a the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro to about a thousand fans and media professionals, and while its might look similar on the outside, it’s a totally different car beneath the skin. But the way GM choose to reveal the Camaro is quite different from past years, where it typically took to the stage at a big international auto show.
Instead GM invited some of its most devoted Camaro fans (including us) to partake in the celebration, even asking a few of them what it is about the bowtie-wearing muscle car that makes them an enthusiast. The answers, as you can see in the video above, are wide-ranging yet not all that unlike.
“I was raised as a Chevy girl,” answers the first person questioned, indicating a long-standing family fandom of the bowtie brand. It’s not just blind brand loyalty that motivates Camaro fans though. “It represents history, and American muscle, and it’s just purely awesome,” answers yet another enthusiast. “It’s the definition of muscle car,” say yet more fans.
In a world where cars increasingly look the same, and the performance of sports cars has never been higher, the Chevy Camaro continues to stand out and hold its own thanks to loyal fans like those seen here. GM has gotten a lot of flack in the past few years for a myriad of woes, yet many Americans remain loyal to the brand. It’s because of cars like the 2016 Chevy Camaro. You can’t buy that kind of fan enthusiasm, no matter how deep your pockets might be.
