Video: LG Motorsports C7Z06 Fast Lap

Anyone who tracks a production Corvette knows that heat is the enemy of performance. These high speed sports cars are taught and accomplished corner-carvers, but suffer from a cooling deficiency when their owners ask more of them than the bowtie ever intended.

LG Motorsports is one of the industry innovators contributing to solving enthusiasts’ cooling problems and has been testing extensively to put together kits that meet the needs of demanding drivers. According to Anthony Forney of LG Motorsports, “We are doing a ton of work on the C7Z06  right now and are about to release our final stage II cooling kit which we have been testing over the last few months.”

Screen Shot 2016-01-07 at 9.52.33 AMLG Motorsports has identified the blaring (and embarrassing) situation faced by ‘Vette owners — which spawned their radiator and transmission cooling options, “Knowing there was a growing number of automatics on the track we have developed a two stage attack plan to fight the dreaded ‘limp mode home’ when the car overheats.” according to their website.

In this one lap video we see driver Lou Gigliotti take the C7 Z06 around Motorsports Ranch Cresson in Texas in a fast time of 1:18.32. Nudging the 130 mph mark while remaining in fifth gear, the Z06 gets a thorough work out at the hands of Gigliotti.

In response to the question of overheating on the track LG Motorsports replied, “Baseline runs the car could only manage about 5 laps before it overheated on the 6th. With the new cooling package it could go 11-12 before the brakes boiled. Brake duct testing next time at the Track! Water temps dropped almost 40 degrees and engine oil temps dropped almost 65 degrees from stock.”1383169_10151739816696483_984544647_n

As in any form of high performance tuning, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link and LG Motorsports is forging new links as they conquer each problem area. If you have questions about the cooling options from LG give them a call or drop them a line.
