Being able to break the rear tires loose while driving down the highway has always been a pretty good way to prove that your car has an insane amount of power. And while your supercharged LSX might be able to do it at 60 or even 70 miles an hour, which is still very impressive, check out this video of LMR’s Texas Mile Top-Speed Camaro that can break loose race tires at nearly 200 MPH.
LMR’s Camaro had the honor of claiming the title of fastest car at the Texas Mile for two years in a row, turning in a top speed run of 246 miles an hour in the standing mile. The LMR Camaro is capable of that kind of speed thanks to a twin turbo LSX mill that makes just north of 1,800 horsepower, and being able to smoke the tires pretty much at will is actually a negative consequence of trying to harness that kind of silly power, especially when you are trying to push a car to nearly 250 MPH and you need every ounce of traction you can get.
But it sure makes for some pretty cool video footage. Check it out here.
