Banging the gears in your race car is a badge of honor that many racers love to wear with pride. There’s something to be said about skillfully ripping through your shifts down the track at a high rate of speed. Ray Bulach has been pushing the limits of a manually-shifted GM transmission for a while now, and now has reset his own record to a blistering 8.33-seconds at over 168 mph during the 2015 Holley LS Fest at the Beech Bend Raceway Park.

Bulach made some changes to his combination this year to assist in resetting the record he set last year. A new 376 cubic inch LSX-based motor from Texas Speed with PRC cylinder heads rests between the front fenders in 2015 to motivate the Camaro. The CRT 76mm turbo still provides the 23 pounds of boost and makes a whole bunch of noise doing it. With just over 1,000 horsepower on tap, Bulach’s car could very well dip into the seven-second zone later this season.

Taking the abuse from this combo is a Monster billet triple disc clutch, Driveshaft Shop carbon fiber driveshaft and a RPM Transmissions-built T-56.Helping to plant that power is a full Midwest Chassis suspension with assistance from a set of AFCO shocks at all corners.
