How does a crate engine putting out 958 horsepower at the flywheel sound? Well, it sounds like a supercharged V8, but aside to that, it sounds like a party to us!

The crew over at Borowski Race Engines have been building insanely powerful and reliable race, street, and marine engines since 1968, and aren’t stopping anytime soon. Utilizing a Dart LS Next 427 block, custom Diamond Racing pistons, and Callies crankshaft and rods, the bottom end is healthy as can be. Topping off the package, CNC ported Brodix 6-bolt heads, MSD coil packs, a Whipple 2.9L supercharger, and a tuned Holley EFI system all play key roles in helping this motor churn out 958 ponies for the lucky customer.

One thing to take note of is the sound of the engine when it’s under wide-open-throttle – it just screams! And the fact that the harmonics of the supercharger’s drive belt can be seen in real-time is astounding. Mind you, this engine was put through it’s paces on pump gas – just imagine if this high-horsepower monster was tuned for race gas! The output would be extraordinary!

However, all of that power obviously comes with a price, and that price ain’t cheap – $29.3K to be exact.. We know that money could be spent in all sorts of ways other than buying this engine, but we’re gear-heads, and this is the madness that goes on in our heads everyday. While we can think of applications for this engine all day long, we’d really like to see it in some sort of chassis flying down a drag strip!
