Granted, it’s taken some time but Chevrolet has finally hit a home run with the already potent fifth-gen Camaro. If you’re familiar with the fifth-gen, you’ll know it was released as a totally new platform in ’10. It was offered in a variety of trims including the base V6 with 323hp and the SS version with a 6.2L 420hp LS. Shortly after, the GM engineers got wise, used their knowledge and build skills from the already introduced ZR1 Corvette and put together the 580hp ZL1 Camaro.
For enthusiasts and buyers, this left many wanting more from the current 426hp SS, without the price tag and beastly nature of the full-tilt, 580hp ZL1 Camaro. That’s when Chevrolet went back to the drawing board and outfitted the LS-powered Camaro with their “1LE” package. This system includes, track-ready suspension, a wider stance with larger wheels and fatter tires, better cooling and a distinctive matte black hood.
So, what’s it all worth? Well, with the 426hp powerplant you’d be looking at a cool, $45,000 price tag. However, where else can you find this kind of bang-for-your-buck attitutde with warranty and high-revving small-block symphony? Chances are, you can’t. Of course, we’ve got the complete test drive video from CarConnection.com. Check it out above to get the complete scoop on what makes the Camaro 1LE package so unique. We think you’ll agree, this is hands-down the best Camaro for the money yet!
