They call it the Oilfield Bandit – and from watching the video, we’re pretty sure it could suck an entire oil field dry with the amount of fuel it must take to get this beast to run an outstanding 8.43 elapsed time at 174 MPH.
At the recent Clash of the Titans race held at San Antonio Raceway in Texas, the Trevino’s Restaurant & Bar/RMR Oilfield Services ’04 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck owned and driven by Rigobrerto Trevino clipped off this insane performance thanks to a 427 cube LSX-powered, 114mm turbo-boosted powerplant. Pretty stout, you’d think, right? Well, even more impressive is that this is a full-weight vehicle; yes, you read that correctly, a full-weight pickup that’s still driven on the street!
The truck makes over 1500 horsepower thanks to a host of quality aftermarket components. The truck is tuned by a gentleman named Flaco from Houston, who also happens to be the former owner of the truck. We love to see badass vehicles that go against the norm – it’s not just another Mustang or Camaro but something different that you’d never expect to run as well as it does from the outside.
As you can see, traction has been a challenge, but the terminal speed shows that there is much more potential in this machine’s future – 174 MPH could be three or more tenths quicker than the current elapsed time put on the board. To date, this is the quickest and fastest pass on the truck, but we look forward to seeing more performances in the future from this monster!
There’s some great footage here both inside and out of one of the sickest machines we’ve seen in a while, so make sure to watch the whole thing.
