Wild C8 Corvette Accident Splits Vehicle In Half

In our opinion, the new C8 is the best Corvette built to date, although people love to argue with us about it. However, I think we can all agree that the new mid-engine design has taken the sports car to supercar status with a 0-60 mph time of 2.9-seconds. These times are accomplished due to a 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine cranking out 490 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque and a new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Unlike previous Corvette models, the C8 also received coilovers and ditched the leaf springs that have been used for years. Along with added performance and handling, GM has integrated more creature comforts, technology, and safties than ever before. And while the C8 utilizes traction control, anti-locking brakes, and stability control, it’s not always enough to overcome driver error or a bad situation.

Recently, in New Jersey, the driver of a C8 found himself in a nasty spot with the Corvette ripped in half, upside down, and on fire. The Mantua Township Fire Department said, “During the overnight hours, Rescue 2218 responded to Route 55 in the area of mike marker 57 for a reported motor vehicle crash with entrapment and fire. Crews arrived and were able to remove the patients inside the vehicle as well as extinguish the engine that was on fire. All patients were transported to local hospitals with non life threatening injuries. The crash is currently under investigation by the New Jersey State Police.”

Unfortunatly, we’re not sure what happened in the case of this C8 Corvette. But, amazingly, the occupants in this horrific crash were able to go to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries even though the car’s rear was separated from the driver compartment. According to Motorious.com, no reports of drugs or alcohol are suspected at this time.
