Power adders are always a fun addition to a project vehicle or a daily driver. Recently, ProCharger added the 2019-’20 GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado trucks to the lineup with a new supercharger system. This bolt-on centrifugal supercharger system is advertised to make 45-50-percent more power at only seven to eight pounds of boost with a P-1SC-1 head unit.

Late Model Racecraft (LMR) recently installed the ProCharger unit on a new 2019 Chevrolet, strapped to the chassis dyno, and then made a few pulls against a simular stock truck. While the new stock GM’s run well from the factory, it’s safe to say that the supercharger and a few other mods made a huge difference.

LMR did several mods to this new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, including the ProCharger supercharger system, Cam Motion camshaft, American Racing Headers, Borla exhaust system, and a set of drop-in pistons. In the end, with a conservative tune, the truck cranked out 636 horsepower and 635 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. While these numbers are impressive, it’s always nice to see what it’s like in a real-world scenario.

LMR lined the truck up against a stock one, and as expected, the ProCharged Chevrolet won but only after recovering from a traction control issue. For race number two, the traction control was turned off, and it was a very different race with the same result. Instead of the ProCharged Silverado coming from behind, this time, it lept out in front and continued to pull until hitting the speed limiter. Steven Fereday of LMR states that the new trucks are much different when it comes to tuning than vehicles of the past. The Silverado will also have better driveability after they are able to tune the transmission control module (TCM).
