For someone with the bank account or large limit on his or her platinum card a wrecked ZR1 Corvette might make a great Christmas present. For those interested in giving their loved one the ultimate LS swap, then this week’s wrecked ‘Vette might be best present under the tree this year. With the front end heavily damaged and the passenger wheel positioned at an awkward angle, this 2011 ZR1 looks like it might be repairable, but it takes a hell of a lot of damage to turn a $110k car into a salvage title basket case…
According to the listing at Insurance Auto Auctions this silver C6 sustained the front end and right side damage during a collision. Unfortunately the specifics of the accident are unavailable, but it seems likely this particular car was not destroyed in a high-speed display of jackassery, but a typical freeway or surface street collision.
There’s no way to know whether this was a typical “more money than talent” single vehicle Corvette crash, but we can imagine a worst-case scenario where some poor bastard in a Camry had a momentary lapse in judgement and ended up blowing past his insurance liability limit by a factor of two in an instant.
With a mere 2,774 miles on the odometer this C6 likely still had the prized new car smell when it was sent to auction. Hopefully the supercharged LS9 will live on underneath the hood of a Camaro, Corvette or even a Firebird. Hey Santa, if you happen to read this I will be more than happy to find this wrecked ‘Vette under the tree on Christmas morning…
