Have you ever heard the saying that rental cars make the best off-road vehicles? In this instance, that off-road capability should be relegated to the dragstrip. We just found out that Hertz, the car rental agency and Hendrick Motorsports have announced plans to build a production run of Hertz-Hendrick Motorsports ZL1 and SS-based Camaros. These 2020 models will feature a signature Hertz yellow-and-black paint scheme and plenty of unique features. You can expect to see custom wheels, special interior badging, and as you should expect, significant performance upgrades.
The Camaro SS variants will be outfitted by Hendrick Motorsports, and the ZL1 models will be massaged by Callaway Cars. The SS coupes will have horsepower bumped to 480 ponies, while the supercharged ZL1 will deliver 750 horsepower and 739 lb-ft of torque, equipped with Callaway’s patented GenThree supercharger system.
There will only be 224 Camaros available to rent. Beginning in October, they will be rolling into several Hertz airport locations. The ZL1s will be available in five cities: Charlotte, Las Vegas, Miami, Orlando, and Phoenix. The 480 HP SS models will be found at Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, Nashville, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and San Diego.
What are you waiting for, reserve yours today before they are continuously booked? Just imagine taking your next road trip in one of these machines. Or, what was to make a work trip more enjoyable than renting one for your next “assigned outing”?
