In the wonderful world of LS motor swaps, the Porsche is a rare breed, indeed. This here is a 1999 Porsche Carrera with an LS1 swap, and damn is it cool. With the LS1 already being a great, reliable motor, it’s easy to see why they’re a worthy choice for vehicular heart transplants. While not being the first time we’ve seen a swap of this sort, it’s pretty awesome to see that people daily drive creations like this. Check out a few other cool LS swapped Porsche’s here, here, and here.
The seller of this Porsche Carrera claims that he swapped the LS1 in place of the factory M96 for reliability. After all, The LS1 weighs significantly less than the boxer 6-cylinder stocker, parts are cheaper to replace, and it makes about 100 pound-feet of torque and 50 horsepower more than the M96 in stock form.
Weighing in at about 2800 pounds, the power to weight ratio of this Porsche is already greater than that of the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera, and not to mention a fraction of the cost. There are a lot of new parts on this motor, showing that the owner didn’t just swap it in and drive the crap out of it. The maintenance and upgrade items include an oil pan gasket, rear main seal and front main seal, LS2 timing chain, LS3 water pump, LS6 oil pump, and more.
The seller has this car listed for $25,000 and has driven it a little over 3,000 miles since the swap. While that is quite a lot of money for a 14 year old car, it looks really well maintained.
